Having a virtual Polar Bear Plunge is a first and we want to make sure that you have all the details for plunge day! We will be updating the program below on a regular basis with more details and the timeline is subject to change.

1:00 to 1:30 pm EST: Virtual Pre-Plunge Rally with Congressman Donald McEachin,  Rev. Lennox Yearwood, and CCAN founder and director, Mike Tidwell! We will also be casting our votes for the Polar Bear Plunge costume contest (details below).

1:30 to 3:30 pm EST: Plunge time! Take the plunge from wherever you are. Utilize signs and messaging to send a message to our representatives to act on climate. Send your photos and videos to the CCAN team (plunge@chesapeakeclimate.org) so that we can compile them to share. Be sure to take some time to change and warm-up.

3:30 to 4:30 pm EST: Virtual Post-Plunge Celebration, grab a blanket and warm drink and join us for some laughs brought forth by comedian Kasha Patel. Hear from our inspiring keynote speaker Bill McKibben, and catch up on what the CCAN team will be working on in 2021. We will also recap the plunge and announce the winners of the costume contest and electric bike giveaway.

Polar Bear Plunge costume contest: One of the most quirky aspects of our annual plunge is the creative costumes that plungers show up in. To carry on this tradition we will be having a costume contest! We are asking plungers to send images of themselves in their costume to plunge@chesapeakeclimate.org by 12:00pm EST on February 13th. We will then let plungers vote for their favorite! If you are intersted in participating, please fill out this form
