WHAT IS THE BRRRR-TUAL POLAR BEAR PLUNGE?
The Polar Bear Plunge is our annual crowdfunding event and biggest fundraiser of the year. The funds raised power our victories to move our region off of planet-heating fossil fuels and onto clean energy. At the plunge, activists show their commitment to combating climate change by freezing in icy cold water, and as with charity walks, runs or rides, plungers recruit sponsors to support them.
Due to COVID-19, this year's plunge will be VIRTUAL and NATIONAL! We are asking plungers to choose how they plan to plunge, some ideas are an ice bath, icy kiddie pool, bucket of ice cold bucket, body of water, etc. You choose what works best for you.
WHAT IF I CAN'T JOIN ON THE 13TH?
That's okay! Take your plunge before the 13th and share your photos and videos with us.
ARE DONATIONS TO THE PLUNGE TAX-DEDUCTIBLE?
Yes! CCAN is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and donations to support your plunge are tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by the IRS.

HOW DO I PLUNGE WITH A TEAM?
Gather a group together and choose a team leader to sign up first and create a team. The team leader can then invite others to join the team, or others will be able to find the team by searching for it when they complete the sign up process. A team can be open for anyone to join or can be password protected. If you would like to create a team or join one after having already signed up, contact us with the name of the team you would like to join.
WHAT PERKS DO I GET FOR FUNDRAISING?
More important than any perk, our plungers know that their efforts help to fund critical efforts to stop fossil fuel development and promote clean energy policies. You get to attend our virtual Pre-Plunge Rally and Post-Plunge celebration. We will be sending pre-plunge packets to all plungers who raise $100 by January 31st. These packets will contain hot cocoa, offers from our sponsors, letter writing materials, and a few plunge surprises. If you raise at least $350 you will also be sent the 2021 plunge t-shirt. Finally, the top plunger will recieve a prize, to be announced at a later date.
WHAT IS THE ELECTRIC BIKE GIVEAWAY?
A generous donor thought a little extra incentive might help. Incentive in the form of a brand new electric bike worth up to $3,500! If you sign up for the plunge and receive your first donation by January 10th, you’ll automatically be entered into the drawing. Want to triple your odds of winning? Plungers who raise at least $350 by February 12th will receive a second entry, and a third entry if they raise at least $1,000. The winner will be announced on the day of the plunge. Anyone can enter to win the electric bike, though of course we hope you'll participate in the Plunge incentives.
